Cedar Fence Cleaning

Gentle cleaning tuned for cedar, the wood that grays fastest under Washington’s damp, shaded conditions.

What This Service Involves

Cedar is prized around here for its rot resistance, but the same rain that makes it practical also feeds the black mildew and green algae that dull its warm tone. We use low-pressure soft washing so the soft grain never fuzzes or gouges the way it can under a high-powered wand. A cedar-safe cleaner draws out embedded mildew and lifts the surface gray without stripping the natural oils that protect the wood. Once it dries you'll see the reddish-brown color come back, ready for stain or sealer if you choose.

Benefits

Brings back cedar's natural warm color hidden under gray weathering; Uses low pressure that won't raise or splinter the soft grain; Clears mildew from the shaded, damp side of the fence; Prepares the wood for a fresh coat of stain or sealer

Our Process

1) Test a small area to confirm the right pressure for the grain; 2) Apply a cedar-safe cleaning solution and let it dwell; 3) Soft-wash each board to lift gray and mildew; 4) Rinse thoroughly and inspect for even color

What Affects the Cost

Length and height of the cedar fencing; Degree of graying and mildew present; Whether you plan to stain afterward and need seal prep; Number of shaded runs under trees; Condition and age of the boards

Best Time of Year

A dry stretch in summer is best so the cedar can fully dry before any stain or sealer goes on.
